10 So, will the earth last forever

Psalm vs Psalm

An Old Testament Psalm tells us:
That the earth remains forever.

Just a sec!

A different Psalm says:
                  That the earth will perish.

Psalm 78 says that the earth will be forever

Psalm 78:69 He built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth that he established forever.

Ecclesiastes 1:4 Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.

But Psalm 102 says that the earth will perish

Psalm 102:25 In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. 26 They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment.

Recap: So the earth will last forever, sort of. Thus Psalm vs Psalm.

  1. Did you read the next verse? Psalm 102:26 Even they will perish, but Thou dost endure: And all of them will wear out LIKE A GARMENT; LIKE CLOTHING THOU WILT CHANGE THEM, AND THEY WILL BE CHANGED.
2 Peter 3:5-10 The earth was DESTROYED by water. The term is like being renewed. G-d will once again DESTROY the earth by fire. (renew).

    1. Psalm 102:25 In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.
26 They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them
      and they will be discarded.

Thanks for input on all of verse 26. The way I see it, it says the earth will "wear out like a garment" and "be discarded." Then replaced. Not necessarily the same as lasting forever. It perishes. Gets replaced. When it perishes, gets discarded, and the wearer changes it, the garment hasn't remained forever.

Thus I wrote, "So the earth will last forever, sort of."

Side note: One could argue verse 25-26 to say, like astronomical theory, that some stars blow up and reform after a time?
