The Old Testament Book of Exodus reports:

That Moses talked face to face with God.

But hold the phone!

Exodus also says:

              That nobody can see God face to
              face and live.

It was okay for Moses to see God face to face

Exodus 33:11 The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend.

But later, Moses was forewarned that it would be curtains for him if he ever saw God’s face

Exodus 33:20 He said [to Moses], "you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live."
