34 So, can you be saved just by faith

Mr. Paul vs Mr. James

In the New Testament, the apostle Paul declares:
You are saved by faith alone, period

Hold the phone!

In the New Testament letter James, James declares:
You're saved by works, too

A letter by Paul declares you're saved by faith, not by works

Ephesians 2:8 It is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

But a letter by James insists you're saved by works, too

James 2:20 You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? ... 24 A person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone. ... 26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

Recap: Paul insists that salvation is possible by only your faith. However, James states that salvation is through works, too. Thus Paul vs James.
